Operational Buyer - Inventory | Clipper Wind Power | Carpinteria, CA

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our procurement team that is highly responsive and customer focused; committed to ensuring products and services are secured at the best cost, quality, and delivery. Major Job Responsibilities include: Responsible for coordinating major projects through management of vendors and commodities, which entails negotiating with suppliers for pricing, terms, and conditions. Manage commodities and vendors in the development and implementation of new and revised products. Coordinate those activities needed for the acquisition of company products, commodities, and services by analyzing recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services consistent with the buying model. Develop and maintain high quality vendor relations. Coordinate vendor selection, qualification, and evaluation with other departments. Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, and inventory control and management. Organizes and implements with direction from the Purchasing Manager and in coordination with the Purchasing Team, purchasing strategies for sourcing programs consistent with company guidelines. Protect company interests in all transactions via astute negotiation and value analysis techniques for the purpose of achieving cost reductions in the manufacture, distribution or sales of product. Contribute to the development of purchase specifications by providing pertinent technical information through market knowledge and experience Conduct necessary bidding procedures. Assist with contract negotiations and order placement. Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers. Ensure on-time delivery of purchased goods and services by working closely with the purchasing staff. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility and perform the required purchasing and market research for assigned commodities. Study market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements. Communicate information through the use of written or verbal reports, excel spreadsheets, and correspondence to superiors, peers, other affected corporate functions, and vendors.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) year degree with a focus in business, economics or technical curriculum related to assigned commodities. Specific purchasing experience may be considered in lieu of a full degree. 5-10 Years experience in Purchasing with progressively increasing responsibilities. APICS and/or CPM certification highly desirable as well as working experience in MRP/ERP. Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation. Quality systems awareness. Negotiating skills and demonstrated solid decision making skills. Working knowledge of and ability to read blue prints.
